On Monday August 11, Montreal Pride organizers sent SPVM riot police to attack queer and trans protesters who disrupted the Pride parade in solidarity with Palestine. It won’t soon be forgotten.
“I was participating in the Pride Disruption protest. The cops pulled the banner from us and we tried to hold on. One officer jabbed me in the stomach with a baton (through the banner), shattering my phone screen which was in the front pocket of my hoodie. They also jabbed me with a baton in the chest.
I didn’t realize it, but I was one of the last person holding onto the banner. A cop hit me on the wrist with his baton to get me to let go. I did let go, and fell. My wrist was swollen and I couldn’t move it very much at all, or my hand. My friend told me it was sprained, and I bought and wore a wrist brace for about a week.”
